Mental Floss, Financial District Dental Care’s Newsletter: The Premiere Issue!

See the newsletter in its full glory here. If you’d like to sign up yourself for news, coupons, and even the occasional dental trivia, use the form in the right sidebar.

Here are some excerpts:

This is the debut installment of our regularly scheduled newsletter. I’ve been deliberating over this for quite awhile as a means to update you on new developments, technology, and techniques. Like every other profession (and area of life), dentistry has undergone numerous innovative and technological changes over the last decade. We’ve tried to apprise our patients like you of these developments and have found it can be unwieldy because there’s so much information we’d like to relate.

So this newsletter is a natural result of that effort. Over the coming months, we’ll keep patients abreast of whatever we consider important to help you have a more pleasant experience in our office. We hope the result will be a more complete service to care for your dental health.

Keep smiling!
Mike Hack

How We Set Ourselves Apart

Like it or not, we are an appearance-driven society and are becoming more so. “More attractive” people start at 12% higher salaries, they are seen as more intelligent, and are thought to be more successful. In a national survey which asked which facial feature is the first they notice when shown an attractive face, 46% of respondents replied, “the smile”; 42% reported, “the eyes”; and 13% said, “other”. We are in a unique position to help you with making improvements in your smile, sometimes very dramatic ones, with conservative approaches completed in surprisingly short periods of time.

Most dental offices today claim to offer “cosmetic” dentistry. This is how we set ourselves apart from the average office promoting appearance-related dentistry:

Dr. Hack, who has been practicing in the financial district since 1972, has been studying and performing esthetic dentistry since its inception in 1979. He was one of the very first dentists in the U.S. using porcelain veneers in 1983. He is a charter member of the Academy of Cosmetic and Adhesive Dentistry founded in 1985 and is still in existence. Each year he spends numerous days in continuing education courses and various adademies keeping abreast of the latest develpments and technologies. He is also a 19-year member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.

This combination of experience and expertise along with a network of specialists to provide related therapies brings a rare perspective to the goal of achieving the most attractive smile that fits your face and desires. You will discover the confidence and self-assuredness that a beautiful yet natural-looking smile provides.

A Success Story

Dennis NixEverybody loves a story with a happy ending. In each newsletter, we’ll share a success story about one of our patients.

This story began about 20 years ago when Dennis had his front teeth taken care of in New York. Over the years, things deteriorated and it became time to update his smile and his bite.

Since completing the treatment, Dennis has gotten many compliments, such as “I’ve never seen your teeth looking better.”

He adds, “I think it also increased my level of self confidence. I was very conscious of my smile. Now, I make sure everyone sees my smile. I have never had a dentist so meticulous. I thought he was finished and my mouth looked fine, but Dr. Hack wasn’t satisfied and made the lab redo them. It’s not fun being in a dentist’s chair for major work. But at Dr. Hack’s office, I watched a movie while he and Julia worked on my teeth. Now if he can only figure out how we can get popcorn with the movie.”
